Quiet Places
Quiet Places explores the relationship between memory, nature, and stillness.
Near a nature reserve in northern China, childhood unfolded among fields, trees, wetlands, and the slow rhythm of changing seasons. As daily life became increasingly shaped by deadlines, expectations, and the pressure to constantly achieve, painting emerged as a place of refuge—a space where time could slow down and attention could return to the simple act of observing. Rather than depicting specific landscapes, these works grow from memories of nature, light, atmosphere, and place. Layers of colour and flowing brushstrokes evoke moments that often pass unnoticed: wind moving through leaves, reflections shimmering across water, the freshness of air after rain, and the quiet connection between people and the natural world. Quiet Places is not a record of particular locations, but an invitation to pause. Within colour, space, and memory, the paintings offer a slower sense of time and a moment of stillness within an increasingly restless world.
